Description:

We are looking for two enthusiastic colleagues to join the infection team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust formed from an exciting restructuring and development of infection services in the trust. The posts are open to doctors trained in clinical microbiology and/or infectious diseases. The successful candidates will hold the 2003 consultant contract with 10 Programmed Activities. The post currently attracts an 5% on-call availability supplement. Fixed term locum and specialist doctor posts are available
The post holder will be responsible with the other Consultant Microbiologists and Infectious Diseases Specialists for a comprehensive, efficient, and cost-effective clinical microbiology and infection service for Heatherwood, Wexham Park, and Frimley Park Hospitals; all part of Frimley Health Foundation Trust. It is expected that the successful applicant will hold FRCPath or equivalent, hold a certificate of completion of training (CCT) in Medical Microbiology & Virology or Infectious Disease & Medical Microbiology or its recognised equivalent or be within 6 months of this by the date of the interview and have experience in clinical/diagnostic microbiology and infection management.
A formal job plan will be agreed between the post-holder and the clinical department at FHFT. The job plan will be a prospective agreement that sets out consultant’s duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year, covering all aspects of professional practice including clinical work, teaching, education, and managerial responsibilities.
All duties are worked flexibly in conjunction with colleagues, but must meet service needs and harmonise with the broader consultant microbiologist team so that service delivery is not reliant on single-handed practice.
As clinical teams come together across the two hospitals of the Trust to become integrated clinical services, this is the direction of travel for medical microbiology and infection services. It is anticipated that there will be an increasing level of cross-site working in the interests of service needs, efficiencies and resilience.
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS hospital services for around 900,000 people across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and south Buckinghamshire.

Our three core values , and the behaviours that support them, guide everything we do and set out what we expect of our staff in the way they treat patients, visitors, service users and each other, Committed to Excellence, Working Together and Facing the Future .
We are also proud to host the Defence Medical Group South East at Frimley Park with military surgical, medical and nursing personnel working alongside the hospital’s NHS staff providing care to patients in all specialties
Please see job description for a full description.
It is expected that the post holder will have 10 programmed activities (10 PAs) with an on-call element.
Any applicant who is unable , for personal reasons, to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post on a flexible working basis. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
