Description:
Applications are invited for a Consultant Medical Oncologist in Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers and Acute Oncology Service (9 PA)
The post holder will be expected to play a pivotal role in the GI Medical Oncology team and the Acute Oncology Service (AOS) at the Royal Marsden, Fulham Road site.
The post-holder would lead the Upper GI service for the West Middlesex referral network comprising two MDTs per week (local and centre), 1 SACT clinic, 1 follow-up/new patient clinic and regular board and ward rounds each week. They would be expected to lead and contribute to clinical research and innovation within the GI Unit supported by the GI Unit research team and have a key role in junior doctor educational development and leadership. They would continue to innovate and develop the GI oncology clinical service.
The acute oncology component, shared with 4 other consultants , would involve management of acutely unwell oncology patients, in the RM Centre for Urgent Care (CUC) and telephone support to the Royal Marsden Macmillan Hotline, when covering the AOS. The AOS consultants are supported by a team of AOS ANPs and junior doctors and the post-holder would play a key role supporting their education and development. The post-holder would also be expected to contribute to service development and research in the AOS.
This is a Chelsea based post and office space and secretarial support will be provided at the Fulham branch of the Royal Marsden. Junior doctors (HEE trainees and clinical fellows) also support the clinical and research activities of the GI team.
