Description:

We are looking for a proactive, motivated, forward thinking and dynamic individual to join our Consultant team at Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust. This is a substantive post based at Royal Hampshire County Hospital and the successful applicant will provide cover for both obstetrics and gynaecology. The department would welcome a candidate committed to both Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a specialist interest in Early pregnancy and acute gynaecology to lead and continue to develop our early pregnancy service. This post is available to start immediately.
This post is advertised as a full time, 10 PA post. The successful candidate will be based primarily at our Winchester site (The Royal County Hampshire Hospital), although all staff are expected to work across sites if the need arises and sessions may well be in Winchester, Basingstoke and Andover.
There is a 1 in 9 non-resident on-call commitment providing cover for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
All applicants should have completed the Labour Ward ATSM module and the early pregnancy and acute gynaecology ATSM or equivalent experience. Applicants are expected to have been awarded CCT (or be within 6 months of award of CCT at the time of interview) and be on the GMC Specialist Register.
This is a substantive 10 PA post. There will be antenatal clinics, LW / elective caesarean section lists, early pregnancy scan sessions, benign gynaecology clinics and theatre. An emergency gynaecology scan list / ambulatory or local anaesthetic clinic or other special interest could be accommodated. The non resident on-call commitment (1 in 9) covers both Obstetric and gynaecology emergencies. The early pregnancy unit is well established and is available 5 days a week running all day on Mondays. The majority of the clinical assessment, scanning and counselling is provided by trained nurse sonographers with provision for expectant, medical or surgical management of miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy. There is well-established provision for MVAs with 4 consultants able to offer and train for this procedure.
There are 3 WTE Speciality Doctors contributing to resident on call duties along with 5 WTE Specialist Registrars from the Wessex Deanery.
Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) provides hospital services to around 570,000 people living in Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire, and specialist services to patients from all over the country. We deliver a full range of district hospital services in a variety of locations.
