SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience within the life and/or non-life industry.
  • Proficiency with programming languages and visualisation tools such as Python, R, SQL, SAS, Power BI, Tableau and eagerness to develop skills are both essential parts of this role.
  • Ability to further fluency in the languages above by self- learning on projects using available resources (colleagues, training, internet etc.) and to share this knowledge with colleagues.
  • Quick learner and highly adaptable to change.
  • Good communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with life and/or non-life actuarial tools.
  • Basic understanding of insurance regulations including Solvency II and IFRS17.
  • Good project and team management skills
  • Initiative-taking and willing to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Readiness to work on missions both in Ireland and Europe.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Part Qualified Actuary with a minimum of two years’ experience within the life and/or non-life industry.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science or a related field. (First class honours preferably).

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

In our ongoing commitment to growing our presence in Ireland, we are actively looking to grow our actuarial and risk presence alongside our banking team. Presently, our insurance team consists of five senior actuaries complemented by a team of four colleagues in the banking service line. This contributes to a dynamic and collaborative work environment.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your data science skill as part of a team dedicated to navigating the complexities of risk management and actuarial projects, contributing to our mission of delivering innovative solutions and valuable insights to our clients. As a part of this experienced team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of risk advisory services in Ireland and in Europe.
Collaborating closely with clients, partners, and experienced colleagues, you will craft tailored solutions using programming languages such as R, Python, SQL or SAS and visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau through intricate insurance business cases, allowing you to refine your technical skills and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your contributions will span various domains, encompassing:

Tailor-made Solutions:

  • Proactively propose customised, innovative solutions such as process automation or using data science to solve business problems with programming languages such as Python, R, SQL or SAS and visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

Actuarial and Risk Modelling:

  • Design, review, validate or enhance Solvency II, IFRS17, ALM, capital calculation or optimisation models and actuarial and risk processes.
  • Conduct calculations using risk models, tools, or actuarial solutions.

Regulation/Standard Implementation:

  • Cover all project aspects - scoping, design, dry-runs, operational implementation.

Client Engagement:

  • Develop tailored solutions for clients, proactively suggest strategies aligned with their unique business environments and ambitions.
  • Actively engage with clients, build, and maintain strong relationships to understand their evolving needs.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of complex prudential regulations, analyse, and interpret changes to ensure compliance.
  • Analyse, interpret and summarise complex regulatory updates and guidance.

Team Collaboration:

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships within the team, fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and expertise development.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to your core role, you will:

Actively participate in internal working groups that include:

  • Building process automation tools & prototypes using open-source software such as Python, R, Power BI etc.
  • Applying data science to solve business problems.

Actively participate in internal business development initiatives or internal projects.
