Description:

Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist to join a friendly, forward-thinking team of 32 Consultant Radiologists at the Royal United Hospital Bath;

  • Consultant Radiologist with specialist interest in Non-Vascular Interventional Radiology (10 PAs) - This is a replacement post due to job plan changes in the interventional radiology department. This post will help meet the increase in demand for interventional and diagnostic radiology services and to help us establish and provide an interventional oncology service.

The post is full time but part time is also encouraged. The post includes participation in the evening and weekend and IR on-call rota (participation in the diagnostic on-call rota optional). Home PACS links are available.
The RUH is a busy district general hospital serving a population of 500,000. The RUH has Interventional Radiology suite which contains a Phillips Allura Clarity installed in 2015 with single slice CT. There is also an AGFA DR 800 in our Fluoroscopy room where certain procedures can be undertaken. The Radiology department, following recent development, has 1 PET-CT, 4 CT scanners and 3 MRI scanners.
Candidates are encouraged to visit the hospital and can make arrangements through contacting the Clinical Lead: Dr Gary Cross (gary.cross@nhs.net) or Dr Robert Colliver, Consultant Interventional Radiologist (robertcolliver@nhs.net)
The candidate must be able to provide a range of non-vascular interventional radiology procedures and ideally will be competent in haemorrhage control. This role also demands a good level of diagnostic radiology competence and another specialist area of interest is encouraged but not essential.
The case mix in interventional radiology at the RUH predominantly comes from our busy Urology, Gastroenterology and Surgical departments and from the wide range of Oncology patients. Approximately 1300 IR procedures are performed per year. With this appointment we will provide a 1:5 IR on call service between 08.00-17.00 seven days per week. Our aim is to establish an interventional oncology practice providing thermal ablation and some elective embolisation.
At the RUH we’re proud to put people at the heart of what we do, working together as one team to make a difference for our patients, each other, and our community. No matter what your role is, we value everyone’s contribution in supporting the exceptional, person-centred care we pride ourselves on.
We are committed to creating a compassionate and inclusive environment. This can be seen in our growing community of staff networks – celebrating successes and creating opportunities to listen and learn. We value our differences, champion kindness and civility, and truly believe that diversity makes us stronger.
A culture of learning, developing and innovating is the thread that runs throughout our whole organisation. We want to support you to thrive, taking your career to its full potential.
We value staff wellbeing, with a well-established programme of support. We believe in a holistic approach spanning all aspects of living a healthy life, including physical, emotional, spiritual and financial wellbeing. We’ve even got a pool!
We are committed to supporting you and hope you want to join our team.
