Job Description
Rockwell Automation is adding critical business values to our customers with it’s manufacturing and IoT software products. The functional consultant role is responsible for the functional design and scope of software components to create reliable software solutions that meet the requirements of our customers. The software components will be developed on top of our MES/MOM software products - mainly Factory Talk Production Center®, PharmaSuite® and other industry 4.0 relevant software components.
Key Responsibilities of the Role

Functional

• Leads functional execution of Life Science MES implementation projects in consulting the customer.
• Performs detailed process analysis and functional system/process design and configuration activities.
• Models pilot use cases and runs respective demo presentations (Proof Of Concepts) in front of the customer.
• Consults and educates customer peers on provided solutions.
• Participates on demand in commercial proposal development activities.
• Creates Solution/Process Designs that are aligned with the allowed extension use case of e.g. PharmaSuite® and will convert those into functional specifications that serve as baseline for customer review and approval, software development and configuration, validation and maintenance activities.

Business

• Responsible for meeting project schedule, design budgets, and customer satisfaction targets from functional/solution aspect point of view.
• Builds partnerships at a functional requirement level with customer counterparts.
• Commercially awareness of impact to the business related to the selected solution design and configuration.
• Performs fit-gap-analysis and configures / showcases functional aspects and solution designs for commercial proposals.
• Responsible for following all applicable corporate, company, governmental and regulatory policies, and procedures as appropriate for this project role.
• Responsible for delivering projects that meet the quality systems of the customer and the Life Cycle Services business unit.
• Shares broad application/functional knowledge relevant to the assigned business team and manufacturing area (Initial focus on Life Science industry).

Leadership

• May guide less experienced peers and/or contractors on project assignments.

Interpersonal

• Supports an environment conducive to successful team interaction.
• Acts professional in communication with other departments.
• Serves as the primary interface for functional topics with the customer for assigned implementation projects – “Face to customer” and interacts with project management and engineering.
• Obtains product functional information from other business units of Rockwell Automation or partners as required.

Required Candidate Attributes

• At least 2 years experience in a consulting customer facing position, preferably in the Manufacturing Execution System and/or Life Science space.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with respect to managing internal teams as well as being permanent face to face contact for the customer related to all functional aspects.
• Abstract thinking ability for developing technically sustainable, robust, modern, performant, as simple as possible, maintainable, and reusable solution designs.
• High level of motivation, personal engagement, flexibility, and willingness to learn and grow with gained experience.
• Ability and willingness to learn numerous solution functionalities as well as customer business and life science industry requirements.
• Methodical and conscious working ethics, producing high quality deliverables that are received and reviewed by customer quality role.
• Willingness for global travel – approx. 20% of working time.
• Very good Microsoft Office suite skills.
• Interest to work in highly international, multicultural environment.
• Collaborates & teams effectively.
• Communicates effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering-, computer science discipline or equivalent scientific degree.
• Excellent English & German language skills (verbal and written)
• Basic understanding in object-oriented programming in Java, C++, C#, JAVA development, JAVA Framework, J2EE App Server / JBoss, HTML5.
• Knowledge in software configuration, validated software implementation (GxP and GAMP).
• Industry manufacturing process and/or application knowledge ideally in Pharma / Biotechnology is a plus.
• Knowledge of MES / MOM software/ applications.
• Any other languages are a plus.
