Description:
This is a substantive appointment to the Urology Department in the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will join a centralised team of 12 Consultant Urologists who provide comprehensive general and specialist urological care to the population of Gloucestershire. We are seeking to appoint a Consultant in Pelvic Oncology. The candidate should be confident in local anaesthetic prostate biopsy, pelvic MDT clinics and management of prostate cancer. The post holder should have attended a dedicated fellowship for robot assisted pelvic surgery. In addition to the above it would be desirable to be independant with robot assisted prostatectomy, although mentorship can be offered.
The role will include cystectomy and urinary diversion and the post holder should have experience of managing these patients. The role will include an oncall.
The purpose of this post is to provide and develop the general and specialist urology service for the residents of Gloucestershire and beyond; there is a very close working relationship with the Herefordshire Service. As a senior employee of the Trust the post-holder will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients. he department of Urology are moving to dedicated outpatient facilities, where the ward, urology assessment unit and dedicated urology outpatients and fixed site lithotripter, will all be collocated. We already have outstanding equipment with new Xi dual console and X robots. In addition we have modern stacks and new plasma+ olympus resection equipment.
