JOB SUMMARY

Develop, design, analyze and evaluate transmission facility additions/modifications by applying engineering theories, principles, and practices that contribute to safe, reliable, and cost-effective transmission line designs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide conceptual scoping, design and estimates for high voltage transmission line projects. This will include, but not limited to, building new lines, re-building and modifying existing facilities, fiber installations, and customer relocations.
Provide conceptual analysis and evaluation of high voltage electric transmission line facilities.
Select most cost-effective solution to achieve desired reliability for a given project.
Support projects through the State Cooperation Commission application process.
Interface with other departments or groups such as Project Management, Construction, Supply Chain, Permitting & Route Selection, Real Estate, Right of Way Administration, and Transmission O&M.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in transmission line engineering, or demonstrated equivalent (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications) Having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) is preferred.
Firm understanding of the principles and practices for transmission lines and PLS-CADD;
Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus;
Self-motivator who has the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, but is comfortable independently seeking knowledge and information;
Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
