Content Works is Postmedia’s award-winning full-service branded content studio. We tap into the expertise of our advertising professionals, digital marketing experts, producers, videographers and writers to craft compelling stories that drive our clients’ business goals and connect with readers. Our branded articles are also published online and in the pages of Postmedia’s iconic titles such as the National Post, Financial Post, Vancouver Sun, Calgary Herald, Saskatoon Star-Phoenix and many more.
Postmedia Content Works is looking for a Branded Content Writer/Editor focusing on Western Canada. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized professional with a passion for the written language and a keen eye for errors, run-on sentences and Oxford commas.
The Branded Content Writer/Editor is responsible for supporting the execution of campaigns for some of Canada’s largest companies. The Branded Content Writer/Editor collaborates with the Content Works team on editing, writing, social media strategy, project management and administrative tasks as required. Reporting to the Executive Producer, Content Works, the Branded Content Writer/Editor is seen as a passionate writer and communicator with strong digital capabilities and skills of a journalist.
This a remote position with working hours in the Pacific/Mountain/Central time zone (flexibility depending on location).

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or an equivalent;
  • Outstanding command of written and spoken English;
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with demonstrated experience adapting messaging to different channels while supporting brand goals;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in multichannel content creation and/or digital marketing;
  • Strong knowledge of best practices and trends within the content marketing industry;
  • Knowledge of audience metrics and social amplification techniques;
  • Experience balancing multiple projects with conflicting deadlines;
  • Proficient in all major business software applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel);
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work well under pressure;
  • A motivated team player and self-starter with superior communication skills and a strong desire to compete and succeed;
  • Confident and adept at working in a completely remote self-driven environment;
  • Working knowledge of SEO and WordPress is an asset;
  • Knowledge of project management techniques is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Edit, fact-check and create written content for client campaign executions across multiple platforms;
  • Ensure quality control of campaigns pre-launch;
  • Craft engaging social ad copy that drives traffic to content executions on Postmedia’s publications;
  • Write additional content for special projects as required;
  • Prepare creative outlines and workback schedules for content executions;
  • Manage projects and timelines in Postmedia’s project management software;
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and an ability to multi-task;
  • Manage custom off-network content projects;
  • Develop story, video, photo and infographic campaign ideas that drive brand goals and engagement for our clients;
  • Source compelling stock imagery for articles and social ad campaigns;
  • Work closely with Producers, Media Strategists, Account Executives, Campaign Managers, writers and other freelancers/vendors in the creative and production process;
  • Support the growth of Postmedia’s Travel vertical on Canada.com;
  • Perform additional tasks to support the Content Works team as required.
