SUMMARY

The Continuous Improvement/Lean Manager is responsible for designing, leading, teaching effectiveness of operations through utilization of process improvement through Lean manufacturing strategies and activities throughout the facility.

Management: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
Engineering and Technology: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Safety and Security: Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, regulations, and strategies to promote a safe environment.
High Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
High Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
High Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree/Master’s Preferred in engineering, or equivalent field and/or combination of education and experience
  • Experience in LEAN manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of LEAN principles with hands-on formal experience
  • Six-Sigma Black Belt Certification preferred.
  • Travel as required: domestic and international.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Leads and designs Lean Manufacturing goals and strategies for improving operations and processes within the organization.
  • Evaluates all continuous improvement activities and develops plans to optimize performance and processes.
  • Leads and facilitates multiple CI initiatives and Kaizen events according to the designated Road Map.
  • Directs and facilitates the ongoing lean improvement process using techniques such as Kaizen, 5S and Kanban.
  • Supervision and enforcement of all actions taken after workshops.
  • Identifies ongoing lean improvement training needs and assist with developing and implementing the required training.
  • Provides lean improvement orientation and on-the-job training for others.
  • Establish metrics to monitor financial savings as compared to established goals and targets.
  • Develop and maintain annual value stream mapping efforts, CI plans, and calendars.
  • Provides coaching/mentoring to train/develop others.
  • Design Lean Cells for new products, existing product families and rollouts including layouts, standard work, operator balance charts, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
