Continuous Shift Scientist

Undertake simple to complex diagnostic testing and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within a single or multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards with minimal supervision.
Develop knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

• Knowledge of Chemical Pathology testing and its role in clinical medicine.
• Knowledge, skills and expertise in the validation and clinical interpretation of results in Chemical Pathology.
• Knowledge, skills and expertise in analytical methods and instruments relevant to Chemical Pathology
• Knowledge of Pathology testing and its diagnostic, therapeutic and monitoring role in disease and health.
• Well developed interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to participate in a 24 hr / 7 day roster and oncall (including all public holidays).
• Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

• A relevant degree (Medical Laboratory Science) in Science or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.
• Availability to work a 24/7 roster including weekends, public holidays and to be available for on call
• While not mandatory, multidisciplinary experience would be well regarded.
