Black Diamond Group’s Workforce Solutions Business has a full-time position available for Contracts Manager in Calgary, AB
Reporting to the VP, WFS Operations & Indigenous Partnerships, the Contracts Manager is responsible for managing risk, negotiation of contract terms, communication with stakeholders, and procurement functions as well as ongoing management of contract issues with awarded projects. The Contracts Manager must be able to communicate effectively to the company, to the other parties involved in the contract and to stakeholders to keep everyone apprised of contract-related matters.
The Contracts Manager works closely with all members of the operations team, procurement, accounting, and legal teams to efficiently move deals from the quote phase through completion and billing, while adhering to company policies and procedures.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction contract administration, negotiation and interpretation, experience in equipment lease agreements.
- Legal or Business Degree (or equivalent combinations of training).
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian-specific contracts and subcontract agreements.
- Understanding of contract issues in the delivery of construction contracts: indemnity, warranty, guaranty, performance guarantees, and liquidated damages. Experience in resolving construction disputes.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as work collaboratively with a team.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable legal terminology, contract language interpretation, and Terms and Conditions.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Prior experience managing onsite construction contracts will be considered an asset.
- Strong computer skills (MS Word including “redline” functionality, MS Excel, Sharepoint).

Responsibilities:
- Contract Management: Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts for a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks within contracts and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Contract Compliance: Monitor contract performance to ensure all parties adhere to their contractual obligations.
- Supplier and Subcontractor Management: Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure their compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Dispute Resolution: Act as a point of contact for dispute resolution and conflict management, striving for amicable resolutions.
- Cost Control: Work closely with project teams to manage and control costs associated with contracts.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized contract records and documentation.
- Reporting: Prepare reports and presentations on contract performance and compliance for management.
