ABOUT THE JOB

The Contracts Manager is a critical role in the business – leading on the selection, appointment and contract management of key supply chain partners working on behalf of the Vattenfall Bristol heat networks team.
As a Contracts Manager you will have experience as a construction quantity surveyor and extensive experience of managing construction contracts. The role will require good interpersonal skills bringing together contractors and internal resources.
For the main part, the Contracts Manager will regularly measure progress and ensure accurate financial reporting. The role will lean on your quantity surveying experience gained from a construction background. You will be able to estimate costs and work with the Project Managers and Planners to ensure actual costs, quantities and time lines are accurate.
Contractually you will be well versed with NEC, FIDIC and JCT contract types. You will lead procurement processes and contract negotiations as well as managing the contract throughout its lifecycle. This includes ensuring any contractual disputes are well documented and, where necessary, are escalated with the Management and Legal Teams.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

  • Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
  • Scrutinizing labor and material costs, as well as contracts to deliver best value.
  • Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessment, and other documents.
  • Advising managers and clients on improvements and new strategies.
  • Keeping track of materials and ordering more when required.
  • Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
  • Establishing and maintaining professional, effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Traveling to various sites as required.
