Description:

Securitas is recruiting a Control Room Operator to provide and support a full Security Control Room Operation in a 24-hour response environment – utilising and operating all the systems within the control room, ensuring response to all requests and emergencies. Ensure all electronic systems are operating to their optimum for the security and safety of the Gallery and its Collection at all times, and that correct and prompt action taken in any emergency.

  • Working an average 42 hours per week (over 3.5 days)
  • 4 on 4 off shift pattern (DAYS - 0800-2000) and NIGHTS - 2000-0800)
  • £12.35 per hour
  • SIA & CCTV licence essential

Responsibilities:

  • To work within defined procedures to deliver efficient 24/7 Control Room services and associated equipment, which include monitoring and operating the CCTV system(s), radio system(s) and alarm systems.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to security, actively monitor and report suspicious activities, objects and hostile reconnaissance to the Response Team to deter and delay adversaries or disrupt potential incident, and escalate to management where required.
  • Monitor and respond accordingly to all information received through the in-place systems e.g. security, fire alarms, closed circuit television, radio, telephone.
  • Ensure security of Control Room by maintaining strict control of persons requiring access ensuring all visitors’ details entered in the Visitors Log.
  • To analyse system data to provide and determine the appropriate action to be taken whatever the circumstance ensuring that high priority fire and security alarms are acknowledged and investigated swiftly to eliminate the possibility of intruders.
  • To possess a detailed knowledge of all systems in the Control Room, able to prioritise responses and recognise when to take action and when the information is the result of a false alarm or a system fault.
  • To summon the Fire Brigade, Police or Ambulance, or inform the Control Room Supervisor, Security Duty Manager, Health & Safety Manager and First Aider, or to instigate Gold, Silver, Bronze in the relevant circumstances and ensure that emergency evacuation procedures are initiate.
  • To produce comprehensive reports and provide working copies of incidents for the police or other authorised persons as requested and accurately maintain the appropriate records.
  • Be Client focused and have an understanding of expectations within client environment.
  • To ensure the integrity and security of all images including those used for recording purpose and those retained for the police for evidence purposes.
  • To export data from digital recorders, copy evidence onto media and complete documentation and Provide witness statements in accordance with control room procedures.
  • Ensure proper documentation is completed before any media is removed by Police or any authorised personnel as laid down in the assignment instruction and operating procedure
  • Maintain a daily log and record all incidents involving system functions, particularly those relating to faults that require escalation to the Securitas Security Management and National Gallery Operations Department during open hours and to the Security Duty Manager during silent hours, in order that the Site Maintenance Engineer can be informed.
  • To re-set the fire and security systems and clear information from both systems, identifying all alarmed areas of the Gallery through means of floor plans, and conveying clear and precise directions to anyone investigating the source of a fire or security alarm.
  • To ensure that all occurrences and incidents within the Control Room, relating to equipment faults and repair, producing working copies, stills or witnessing incidents seen on CCTV or heard on Community Radio are recorded
  • To ensure decisions are made swiftly in emergencies, for example, whom to contact when the area of responsibility falls outside jurisdiction.
  • To fully complete handovers to provide an accurate detailed account of the present status of the fire and security alarm systems at time of change of shift.
  • To act in other roles within a security team when so rostered.
  • To cooperate and contribute to measures introduced by the Gallery to ensure equality of opportunity and encourage diversity.
