B2Gold is a low-cost international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, a mine under construction in northern Canada and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland. B2Gold forecasts total consolidated gold production of between 860,000 and 940,000 ounces in 2024.

DESIRED COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Two (2) years of experience in process control engineering, preferably in the mining or minerals processing industry;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical or Process Engineering, or related field;
  • Experience in designing and configuring Emerson DeltaV DCS systems and Rockwell Logix PLCs and using their software platforms;
  • Understanding of industrial communications networks and protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, HART, DLR, RSTP;
  • Familiar with ABB UMC100.3 motor starters, Yaskawa A1000 and Schneider ATV6000 VSDs; and
  • Understanding of process control theory, statistical analysis, and optimization techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with developing, implementing and troubleshooting the process control logic and strategies for the minerals processing and power plant, including crushing, grinding, leaching/CIP, elution, dewatering and power generation;
  • Assist with design, integration and commissioning of the Emerson DeltaV DCS system and vendor package PLCs and I/O;
  • Commission and troubleshoot process instrumentation and cabling;
  • Configure, commission, and troubleshoot smart DOL motor starters and VSDs.
  • Configure, commission and troubleshoot industrial communications networks, protocols, managed switches, firewalls and routers;
  • Perform administrative and maintenance tasks for workstations and servers, historian and databases, as well as develop reporting;
  • Ensure that all process control systems comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of process control systems, including system configurations, programming logic, and troubleshooting procedures; and
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including the design and commissioning team, operations, process engineers, metallurgists, maintenance technicians, and IT professionals, to ensure alignment of process control objectives with overall B2Gold’s goals.
