ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experienced and qualified accountant, minimum 2/3 years PQE
  • Fluent French & English languages
  • Local GAAP & US GAAP knowledge (desirable)
  • Experience working within a multinational environment preferably as a Financial Controller
  • Able to manage a highly matrixed environment
  • Strong knowledge of SAP (desirable) or equivalent. Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) required.
  • Self driven individual – able to work alone and as part of a team
  • Customer service: A commitment and focus on customer service – defining and exceeding multiple customer expectations and delivering on the service commitments.
  • Process focus: Skills in process analysis, assessment and improvement and working in a team environment where continuous improvement is encouraged

Responsibilities:

  • Local Compliance
  • Ensure timely and accurate closure and submission of local audited accounts, tax returns, statutory submissions
  • Liaise with External accountants, External Auditors, Tax Advisors and Corporate Tax team on Financial accounting, statutory reporting and tax compliance matters
  • Financial Reporting
  • Preparation of month end results within prescribed timetables and deliverable format, and in compliance with local and Corporate financial policies
  • All accounts have been properly reconciled to the general ledger and reconciling items have been properly identified and investigated.
  • All accounts of the balance sheet have been reconciled in accordance with the reconciliation policy.
  • Cash Flow
  • Management of cashflow to ensure adequacy of funds in bank accounts, timely payment for payroll, employee related expenses, related companies and vendors.
  • Timely submission of periodic cashflow forecast and other prescribe reports to US Corporate Office and Regional Controller
  • Process Improvement
  • Improve efficiency and accuracy of accounting workflows and processes.
  • Analysis workflow and processes, to identify gaps.
  • Active involvement in EMEA / Global finance / controllership projects
  • Control
  • Initiating, communicating and implementing proper controls in all areas of accounting and operations
  • Strict controls of all reconciliation activities
  • Adherence to company accounting policies
  • Adherence to SOX Controls
  • Proper authorization of expenditures in line with SOA
  • Adequate overall procedures and controls in place, and revise as necessary
  • General
  • Dealing with queries from staff at all levels
  • Highlighting and addressing issues which need to be escalated
  • Work closely with Avaya SAP, AP, AR, Cash & bank, Fixed Asset and other Avaya associates in relation to Financial reporting systems, sub ledgers, processes and/or issues
  • Advisor or contact point to Avaya Associates for Avaya Financial policies and local corporate accounting and income tax matters.
  • Support Country / Regional FD in Business related items
  • Support Country Manager / HR in dealings with the workers council
