Responsibilities:

As the Controller, you will be at the helm of our financial operations, ensuring the company’s financial health and compliance. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Leadership:
  • Prepare, analyze, and submit complete financial statements to management by the designated deadline(s)
  • Continuously interpret and analyze financial statements, keeping the General Manager and senior leadership informed about trends and cash needs.
  • Develop and maintain an effective cash management system to support the company’s financial stability.
  • Handle fiscal management of the company, overseeing all accounting functions, audits, and tax returns.
  • Prepare yearly financial statements and report to Capital Automotive Group ownership.
  • Administrative Oversight:
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate office and clerical staff, conducting yearly performance appraisals.
  • Administer payroll policies and handle purchasing and inventory control of office supplies, equipment, and computers.
  • Automate systems where possible and coordinate with IT to optimize performance.
  • Manage accounts receivable, review credit applications, and oversee credit policies and collections.
  • Represent the company in dealings with attorneys, manufacturers, salespeople, insurance agents, and customers.
  • Decision-Making Authority:
  • Act as a decision-maker in the General Manager’s absence, relieving them of various administrative details.
  • Establish departmental goals consistent with company objectives, planning, and control.
  • Implement and communicate management’s policies and procedures to all employees, ensuring they are understood and followed.
  • Handle special projects and analysis as requested by the General Manager or senior leadership.
  • Compliance and Training:
  • Coordinate annual audits and physical inventory.
  • Maintain floor plan payments with financial institutions.
  • Finalize and audit year-end reports.
  • Provide continuous training on personnel, tax, legal, and accounting issues, communicating pertinent data to the management team.
