Description:

Our client is an established and successful construction company. Due to an upcoming retirement, the company is looking to hire a Controller to lead the Finance Team. This is a 100% onsite role based in Burlington.
Reporting to the Owners, the Controller manages full cycle accounting, prepares payroll, manages the month end, reconciles balance sheet accounts, and ensures accurate job costing for all projects. The Controller supervises A/P and is responsible for monthly government remittances. In addition to payroll processing the Controller administers benefits for staff.
To be considered for the role of Controller, you should be a designated CPA with 5+ years of full cycle accounting experience in a construction or engineering environment. You must have hands-on payroll processing experience. You should have a minimum of 5 years of job costing or project accounting.
Our client offers a generous compensation package including salary, discretionary bonus, full benefits and company-funded RRSP contributions.
Financial Management
Generate and provide regular financial reports.
Prepare Financial Statements - balance sheets and income statements monthly, quarterly and annually.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Coordinate with external auditor and provide financial statements for tax returns and annual audit.
Preparing documentation for audits.
Accounting
Reconcile bank statements and other financial records.
Process EHT, WSIB, HST, Receiver General, WSIB and other statutory requirements.
Track Fixed assets schedules and depreciation.
Reconcile and ensure prompt payment of Union payments monthly.
Manage cash flow reporting
Accounts Receivable
Manage accounts receivable process. Issue invoices and process monthly.
Process payments and subcontractor invoices.
Track invoices and payments between JV and Parent company.
Job Costing
Cost to Complete for each job monthly.
Set up jobs and job codes and ensure accurately tracked.
Monthly allocation of Job Overheads.
Weekly reporting of job costs and as required.
Payroll Processing
Payroll processing weekly for Unionized and Salaried employees. For two companies.
Employee benefits and other payroll related information.
Year-end T4s
Supervise Accounts Payable
Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable invoices.
