Description:

Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented and strategically minded Controller to oversee our non-profit clients financial and accounting operations.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
Proven experience in non-profit accounting and a clear understanding of non-profit GAAP.
Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP).
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in managing a finance department.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant computer applications.

Responsibilities:

Oversee all facets of accounting operations including payroll, billing/accounts receivable, audit activities, grants management, accounts payable, fixed assets, and reporting.
Prepare detailed monthly financial statements for multiple departments and funds, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, inclusive of all necessary supporting schedules and balance sheet reconciliations.
Assist the VP of Finance in carrying out monthly financial analysis (budget to actual) and help departments to make informed decisions based on the similar.
Manage and initiate the annual finance statement audit and coordinate with other audits dictated by grantors or insurers.
Supervise the preparation of quarterly reports to monitor 403b compliance and lead the annual 403b audit.
Work closely with the VP of Finance in developing the annual operating budget. You will need to understand the challenges faced by the departments and identify opportunities where they exist.
Collaborate with VP of Finance, Director of Grants Management, and relevant stakeholders to recommend and implement accounting best practices.
Recommend and lead collaborations across the organization to support the achievement of annual team operating goals.
Other related duties and special projects as needed.
