Description:

Peter Danielson with Robert Half’s is hiring for a Controller position with a reputable Construction/Contractor company, if you have a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department. Candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff, will be preferred for this position. If you can lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services, this role might be right for you. How you will make an impact

  • Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
  • Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations
  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
  • Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
  • Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
  • Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
  • Construction Cost experience preferred
  • Deep understanding of Financial Statement
  • Solid understanding of month end closings
  • Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills
  • Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
  • Great written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
  • Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
