Description:

This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Winnipeg, Manitoba region. This role’s duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. Major responsibilities
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
- Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month
- Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties
- Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
- Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
- Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
- Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
- Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
- Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
- Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
- Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
- Advanced credentials such as a CPA are preferred
- Experience in non-for-profit sector is a must
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
- Prior work done in public accounting is desired
- Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Great attention to detail
- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
- Adeptness in non-profit fund accounting
- Budget forecasting experience
- Solid understanding of Full Cycle Accounting
- Demonstrated knowledge of auditing
- Proficiency in Annual Budget
- Budget forecasting experience preferred
