Description:

Robert Half has a client in the Non-Profit industry seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic Controller to join their esteemed company. The leadership position is responsible for an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Midland, Texas area.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
  • Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities
  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
  • Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
  • Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
  • Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations
  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
  • Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards
  • CPA/MBA preferred
  • Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the “why”
  • Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
  • Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
  • Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
  • Budgeting experience desired
  • Financial statement preparation experience
  • General familiarity with Tax Compliance Processes
  • Proven knowledge of Foundation Grants
  • Well-founded grasp of Fixed Asset Depreciation
  • Accounts Payable (AP) experience
  • Command of budget forecasting
  • Proficiency in US GAAP
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
