Description:

Patricia Carlile with Robert Half is seeking candidates who have a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department, for a Controller position at a reputable company. This role’s duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. The ideal candidate for this position can lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
  • Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations
  • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
  • Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
  • Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA and/or CPA preferred
  • 5+ years progressive accounting experience
  • Experience with wholesale/distribution strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated technical accounting skills; solid understanding of GAAP
  • Self-starter; must be comfortable reprioritizing tasks and resources within a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to balance priorities in a small company environment while wearing multiple hats
