Description:

We are looking for Control Engineers that must be able to perform the design and field startup of control systems for automotive manufacturing. Experience in industries related to the automotive industry and electrical controls are highly desired. Demonstrated trouble shooting skills are necessary.

Undertake projects in new sectors, knowledge of robot programming and vision systems (Cognex/Keyence)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering
  • Will have a minimum of 3 years relevant industry design experience with automotive conveyor systems and robot cells, including system architecture, schematic diagrams and control panel design
  • Proven design experience on (recent) large automotive projects
  • Detailed knowledge of industrial conveyor systems in automotive assembly, Robotic programming and Vision systems (Cognex/Keyence)
  • Technical knowledge, certification and skills:
  • AutoCAD, Eplan
  • Rockwell and Siemens PLC & HMI, Mitsubishi PLC
  • Industrial networks (Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profinet, CCLink)
  • Variable speed drives (Rockwell, Siemens, SEW)
  • Technical knowledge/skills in the following is considered an asset: Ford NextGen & GVOSS standards; GM G12 & G16 standards, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Capable of assisting with installation
  • Debugging PLC & HMI with no additional support
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere
  • Able to travel to customer sites for extended periods
  • Must be fluent Spanish English TOEFL 70, with excellent oral and written communications skill

Responsibilities:

  • Design of control systems on large automotive projects, from customer standards where applicable
  • Provide expertise in the design of industrial conveyor systems in automotive assembly
  • Review specifications, and establish non-standard designs
  • Follow internal and customer standards
  • Develop a system layout and distribute control equipment appropriately
  • Review time cycles studies and dimension switch layouts
  • Design system architecture and network topology
  • Detail design of control panels
  • Specify equipment and development of bills of materials
  • Design of electrical schematic drawings in AutoCad and/or Eplan
  • Design and test PLC and HMI programs using Rockwell and Siemens applications
  • Liaise with various project teams and customer representatives
  • Research and understand the functionality of proprietary control equipment
  • Communicate effectively and ensure a consistent quality of design
  • Issue designs as required by the project timing
  • Provide technical support to site installation teams, and on Site startups
  • Provide both Customer and Standby support
