ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone who has:

Tertiary or other qualifications and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field

  • .Demonstrated experience in a relevant field, including in the conduct of investigations and enforcement activities
  • .Working knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework applicable to the work of the unit.Current Driver’s Licence Class
  • C

Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the Enforcement Unit to investigate and enforce legislation and regulations. This position will safeguard the managing and developing of staff in the environmental regulatory functions to investigate and enforce breaches of legislation and regulations in order to safeguard the general wellbeing of the community.
You can also expect to:

Plan and coordinate the work of the unit to respond to customer and other stakeholder requests, including for regulatory information and investigations

  • .Investigate breaches relating to various statutes such as the Companions Animals Act 1997, Road Rules 2014, Public Space (Unattended Articles) Act 2021, Local Government Act 1993 and the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979
  • .Prepare correspondence, notices, and orders to give effect to relevant legislation
  • .Review all evidence prepared by the team for courts, tribunals, or judicial bodies prior to final review by Council legal staff
  • .Liaise with government bodies and stakeholders and participate in relevant forums to share information, provide advice, and to contribute and participate in decision making on matters of common interest.Manage Council’s Waste Regulatory functions
  • .Contribute towards and implement Council’s waste management strategies and policies
  • .Coordinate maintenance and update of all relevant databases and prepare required reports for submission under mandatory statutory reporting requirements
  • .Review complaints about team members and consider representations in response to fines in order to address matters raised
  • .Monitor and review financial budgets to identify and report variations and amended forecasts to the Manager Compliance & Community Safety
