Under the direction of the Manager, Health Equity Operations the Coordinator - Health Equity Operations, supports IEHP’s compliance with Cultural and Linguistic (C&L) State and Federal regulatory requirements. This position assists in the development and/or implementation of Cultural & Linguistics Services /activities, such as:

  • Daily processing of Alternative Format Standing Member requests, such as Braille, Audio, Electronic, Text to ASL and Large Print, for members.
  • Process Alternative Formats Follow-ups and Program Referrals in Medical Management System.
  • Connect with Members as necessary to assist with alternative format requests.

The Coordinator - Health Equity Operations will also provide coordination and administrative support to the Health Equity Operations and Programs unit in the areas of development and implementation of operational policies and health equity strategies.
Applicable to Bilingual job code only - This is a Bilingual (English/Spanish/Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese) /Vietnamese) position. The Team Member in this role must take a language proficiency assessment and must receive a passing score.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Applicable to Bilingual Job Code only - Bilingual (English/Spanish/Chinese/Vietnamese) - written and verbal skills required.

  • One (1) year of experience in a project coordination, translations or interpreting services required. Experience addressing issues of cultural and linguistic competency and racial and ethnic disparities in health care.
  • Experience with a health plan or working with culturally diverse populations preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree from an accredited institution in a Healthcare related field or Cultural and Linguistic studies preferred.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of general Cultural & Linguistic Services.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft products: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access, sufficient for use in all aspects of an office environment.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to:
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization.
  • Work independently, meet deadlines, and exercise discretion and judgment.
  • Have a strong work ethic and possess a willingness and ability to learn.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in a team setting.
  • Telephone courtesy; high level of patience.
