Description:

Working to promote excellence in clinical trials, the Clinical Research Coordinator III will be responsible for the initiation, organization, co-ordination and ongoing administration of clinical trials in the critical care research program. Reporting to the Research Manager, the Clinical Research Coordinator III will work in close collaboration with the current Clinical Research Coordinator III and under the direction of the Principle Investigators (PI’s) to apply specialized knowledge in coordinating and managing several concurrent research projects. The day-to-day responsibilities of the Clinical Research Coordinator III will be determined in discussion with the current Clinical Research Coordinator III and the PI’s . The Clinical Research Coordinator III is an experienced clinical trials coordinator who is highly motivated and organized. This individual balances the day-to-day activities of multiple clinical trials including screening, consenting and recruiting patients, monitoring of trial conduct to ensure adherence to study protocols and and independently identifying, evaluating and rectifying problems. The Clinical Research Coordinator III conducts patient visits, study monitoring and performs efficient and accurate data collection and management. The Clinical Research Coordinator III may assist with protocol development and be asked to participate in local, national and international scientific meetings. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized and motivated individual with exceptional interpersonal skills, who will enjoy taking on a leadership position, while working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment, conducting research in a stimulating environment to join the Niagara Health Knowledge Institute. Experience in the coordination of multiple research studies, and the recruitment of patients into acute or critical care trials, and knowledge and/or experience in an acute care environment are required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

o Bachelor’s degree in Science or a health related field
o Minimum 5 years of recent experience in a research coordinator position, or equivalent combination of education and experience in research coordination
o Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP/CCRA) or willingness to obtain within two years of employment (must keep certification active) or Clinical Trials Management Diploma
o Certification in ICH GCP, Division 5, TCPS-2
o Experience in a relevant health care environment
o Enthusiasm for advancing science in the practice of clinical trials research
o Demonstrated skill in managing and organizing multiple projects, with competing deadlines, diverse tasks, and unique challenges and in a constantly changing environment
o Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to new situations
o Proven ability of ensuring confidentiality of information
o Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills, especially with patients and substitute decision makers
o Excellent written communication, proofreading and editing skills
o Superior organizational and problem solving skills
o Ability to work independently, accurately and in a professional and courteous manner
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Ability to utilize a hospital’s print and electronic patient record, and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Meditech preferred
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Full vaccination in accordance with Niagara Health’s Vaccination Policy
