JOB SUMMARY

The Asset Management Branch is responsible for the cost-effective management of the City’s $20 billion public works infrastructure assets, carrying out or overseeing the provision of planning, analysis and needs evaluation specifications, and Request for Proposal (RFP) development, evaluation and selection.
You are responsible for a broad range of functions related to asset management. These functions are primarily associated with lifecycle activities, which include capital planning and budget forecasting related to the renewal and upgrade of the City’s buildings and parks, monitoring and analyzing capital budget performance as projects are tendered, coordinating technical documentation and conducting research and analysis to support the development and implementation of life cycle renewal projects, policies and strategies. You also provide functional supervision to staff as required.
This specific position is within the Building and Park Assets Unit (BPA), in the Facility Asset Management Branch. The focus of this Unit is mainly associated with the lifecycle renewal of all City vertical assets, inclusive of parks and buildings. The Unit portfolio incorporates the asset management of over 1100 buildings and approximately 1200 parks. This position will report to the Program Manager. The position will be responsible for facilitating capital project coordination meetings with relevant stakeholders, monitor project schedules/budgets, maintain the asset register for city facilities, liaise with partners through corporate leases and/or agreements, and support the preparation of annual capital budgets.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 4 year university degree in Business Administration, Planning, Business Management or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible and direct experience in asset management, reinvestment planning and lifecycle planning and renewal.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Demonstrated use of computers and computer applications, such as financial models, advanced spreadsheet applications, GIS tools and database management systems
  • Software applications including SAP (PM & PS Modules), RIVA, Word, Excel, Accessibility Audit Tools and MarkView
  • Records Management System (RMS)
  • Financial management principles, budgeting and accounting procedures
