SUMMARY

This position provides program support and coordination for a variety of Eisenberg Family Depression Center educational outreach activities and initiatives, which align with the Center’s mission to improve lives through scientific discovery and community education. This role includes taking an active role in program planning, implementation, and evaluation activities, as well as holding primary responsibility for coordination of several education and outreach projects. The person in this role will work with the Eisenberg Family Depression Center team and interact with a variety of people including faculty, staff, and students from several U-M schools and departments, school district staff, middle and high school students, and community members.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and must have excellent organizational, planning and communication skills. They exhibit exceptional project coordination skills, featuring keen attention to detail in organization, tracking, and scheduling, as well as adept relationship management skills. They can juggle multiple tasks, solve problems, and effectively manage competing priorities. Superior communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal abilities, along with impressive presentation skills and the capacity to interact professionally with varied contacts, are a must. The ideal candidate must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision, while also promoting maximum collaboration in a team environment. The role requires meeting with school and community partners in-person, which would involve travel throughout Washtenaw County, the State of Michigan and other locations as needed. Regular availability for an average of 2-3 evenings per month for outreach event attendance is mandatory. Outside of aforementioned required in-person meetings, this position’s responsibilities may be completed remotely or hybrid (mix of in-person and remote) based on operational needs.

Salary will be based on several factors, such as the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, education and skills for the position all while ensuring equity on our team.

  • Please note this is a term-limited position through 9/30/2025, with the possibility of extension based on the availability of funds and need. If not renewed at the end of the term, the appointment will not be eligible for Reduction in Force (RIF) benefits.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • A Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, public health or another relevant discipline
  • Previous experience working with diverse, multicultural populations
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Master’s degree in public health, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Social Sciences, or related field
  • Experience in program management, particularly in Education and Outreach
  • Experience with community engagement
  • Experience working with youth ages 10-21 and/or in schools
  • Basic familiarity with depression, anxiety, and positive coping skills
  • Familiarity with Qualtrics, SPSS, social media platforms and Canva
  • Knowledge of educational practices to enhance learning
  • Additional language skills
  • Experience with medical or social service organizations
  • Knowledge of University practices, rules, and regulations

Program Coordination & Management

  • Assist with development, implementation, and expansion of comprehensive and sustainable programs, including adaption and expansion of the Peer-to-Peer Depression Awareness Program to other school districts throughout Michigan and the country as part of a comprehensive school-based prevention to intervention model -
  • Serve as a liaison to middle and high school students and staff, as part of the Peer-to-Peer Depression Awareness Initiative, to help student teams implement campaigns which aim to increase knowledge, reduce stigma, and encourage help-seeking
  • Present educational curricula to students and professional staf

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities for the Project Coordinator include but are not limited to:

Program Coordination & Management

  • Assist with development, implementation, and expansion of comprehensive and sustainable programs, including adaption and expansion of the Peer-to-Peer Depression Awareness Program to other school districts throughout Michigan and the country as part of a comprehensive school-based prevention to intervention model -
  • Serve as a liaison to middle and high school students and staff, as part of the Peer-to-Peer Depression Awareness Initiative, to help student teams implement campaigns which aim to increase knowledge, reduce stigma, and encourage help-seeking
  • Present educational curricula to students and professional staff

Program Development

  • Assist with development of mental health curricula and standardization of program materials to support program expansion and fidelity

Program Evaluation

  • Assist in establishing evaluation criteria including identifying aims, survey development, survey distribution, data entry and analysis, to measure program success, identify areas for improvement, and enhance ongoing objectives

Outreach

  • Serve as a liaison with campus and community partners
  • Assist in the coordination and staffing of outreach events
