WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU BRING?

  • Working knowledge of legislation relating to support payments, tax arrears and wage assignments
  • Demonstrated good understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in the use of a PC and computer software and applications related to the work (Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) as well as other office equipment necessary to perform duties
  • Good analytical and mathematical skills, and ability to identify discrepancies/anomalies to make required changes within a limited time frame
  • Good organizational skills to work within strict time limits
  • Effective interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Experience in SAP payroll
  • Good knowledge of TTC mainframe systems (PPS, OARS, RABS) and TTC Policies and Union Collective Agreements as they pertain to the work being performed
  • A completed University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline and relevant payroll/office administration experience, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
  • Completion of Canadian Payroll Association courses (Accounting I & II)/ Business Administration courses are assets
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees

Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of administrative and control functions designed to ensure weekly, monthly and annual special payments (Maternity and WSIB Top-Ups, Travel Balance and Deposit, etc.) are processed accurately and on schedule
  • Reviews, confirms and processes third party deductions, including Wage Assignments, Income Tax Arrears and Family Support Payments, that are to be deducted from employees’ pay
  • Ensures the timely remittances of all third party payments as part of post-payroll processing
  • Processes WSIB advances and monthly top-up payments (WSIB and Pregnancy Leave), and off-cycle payments for Sick Benefits, Payroll area P4 ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all payments, and completing all post-payroll activities required
  • Prepares and controls and monitors payroll cheques and ad hoc EFTs issued to employees for advance vacation pay and cheque orders; and maintains annual vacation banks
  • Resolves overpayments made through any of the various payrolls
  • Monitor and update vacation banks for all TTC employees
  • Issues Pay Statements to the work locations post payroll run as required
  • Mail out T4 annually and as required
  • Receives and addresses Tier 2 AskHR inquiries in a timely manner, as defined by the Employee Service Centre SLAs
  • Participation in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program
  • Responsible for treating passengers and employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer
