Description:

JOB OVERVIEW:

Under the supervision of the Director, the Speech Coordinator assists with the management of speech pathology related issues within the Department of Speech and Hearing. Assists in ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Provides clinical care to patients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology
  • NJ State Licensure for Speech Therapy
  • Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
  • Minimal 3 years clinical experience as SLP with preference for acute care setting,

Preferred:

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred,

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Weekend availability required
  • Full time 40 hours per week

Responsibilities:



    • Responsible for evaluation and treatment of patients in the acute care and/or OP setting,

    • Patient and family intervention on all nursing units including, but not limited to neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, cardiac, critical care, trauma, general medicine and telemetry, emergency department, and pediatrics,
    • Must be familiar with inpatient and outpatient operations,
    • Manage scheduling, staff orientation/mentorship, payroll, performance appraisals and speech department operations,
    • Work with director on candidate hiring, program development, and quality improvement,
    • Strong teamwork, communication and documentation skills required for intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary communication,
