Job Title: Corporate Accounting Analyst (15-Month Term)
Location: G3 Head Office, Winnipeg (On Site)
Working under the direction of the Corporate Accounting Manager, the Corporate Accounting Analyst provides analysis on variance to budget and forecast for elevator/terminal industrial costs and volumes. This role facilitates analysis that identifies key drivers of results and provide insights into trends that directly impact operational results. This role is responsible for preparing management reporting for operational results based on various KPI’s and metrics, as well as performing month end duties. The Accounting Analyst also assists in the development of process and system initiatives providing insight into the financial impacts and internal controls.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Highly detail oriented with effective communication and time management skills
  • 3+ years’ experience in an analyst or equivalent role
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting/finance and CPA designated
  • Strong SAP experience and general grain industry knowledge considered an asset
  • Advanced excel and analytical reporting
  • PowerBI experience considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve in a confidential environment

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, analyzes and interprets monthly industrial operations results for elevator/terminals and discusses with Facility General Managers to understand any variance to budget/forecast
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities for improvements in forecasting key cost drivers
  • Identifies areas for system optimization to gain efficiencies in the role and assists with implementing process improvements on a continual basis
  • Participates in budgeting and forecasting processes, working with the business to ensure reporting is timely and accurate, while analyzing key drivers of business performance
  • Provides analysis on variance to budget for elevator/terminal profit and loss statements and volumes to identify drivers of results and provide insights into trends that directly impacts operation results
  • Responsible for preparing quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and monthly journals for review
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures for spare parts inventory. Work with locations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Monitor and report on spare parts inventory.
  • Analyse and report on the financial impact and related internal controls associated with the key strategic initiatives
  • Assist with preparing timely and accurate month end board reporting on elevator/terminal costs
  • Provide support and back up for bank reconciliation process
  • Performs other ad-hoc project related duties as assigned
