They are seeking a talented Germany-based Corporate Accounting Director with proven international experience to take ownership of the G/L accounting work done across the global organisation. In this role you will report directly to the Global Controller and be responsible for a globally distributed team handling all relevant topics across our country locations. Responsibilities:
- Lead and review the global monthly close, including daily standups during month-end close and ongoing efficiency optimizations
- Collaborate with business partners to improve existing processes and obtain required financial information
- Develop and implement accounting best practices. Lead the initiative to improve the internal control environment and financials quality and then ensure compliance with key controls and ongoing accurate U.S. GAAP reporting. Examples include, but not limited to the following: balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, process narratives, etc.
- Undertake consolidation for the global organisation. Assemble monthly/quarterly reporting presentations in coordination with the Finance team
- Develop and mentor an accounting team of six, based in Berlin and San Francisco Bay area.
- Oversee further India-based Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) function covering transactional areas.
- Uplevel the current Accounting team to transition from transactional focus to analytical procedures, build automations, strengthen understanding of the “why” behind the numbers
- Assist the Global Controller with strategic topics, including liquidity management, M&A project work, and financial reporting
- Where needed, maintain relationships with local advisory teams on compliance topics (tax, audit, other reporting)
- Search continually for process and accounting system optimization
- Perform limited technical research within assigned areas
Professional Profile:
- Minimum 10 years progressively advancing experience. Past experience in a global organization is a plus.
- 7+ years management experience
- Audit experience at a global firm and / or certified public accountant or similar a plus
- Experience managing audit / tax filings (and working with respective advisors)
- Advanced knowledge of US GAAP; knowledge of European accounting rules a plus
- Experience with NetSuite required
- Experience with these further systems a plus: Navan, Concur, Stripe, Leapfin, Floqast
- Experience with multiple levels of consolidation and large volume of recurring transactions
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (macros, nested If / array formulas)
- BA / BS and / or masters degree in accounting with a strong academic record or equivalent work experience
- Ability to work on a geographically distributed team and fast-paced environment
- Highly organized and a clear communicator
- Love for discovering new things; never satisfied with the status quo
