Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
JD Degree from accredited law school.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Five (5) years of professional work experience, including experience as an in-house counsel and/or with a
major law firm with particular emphasis on real estate transactions, real property and leases,
Experience with health care regulatory requirements.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong legal research and legal agreement drafting skills.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
Ability to explain and persuade by articulation.
Skill in stressing prevention as opposed to reaction.
Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE:
Assists the Chief Legal Officer and the PHC Legal Department in providing advice and counsel to all
affiliates, including hospital operators and employed physician practices. Provides legal advice primarily
in the areas of real estate transactions, real property and leases, construction and environmental matters.
Reviews and advises on the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures. Assists
with the coordination of outside counsel resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drafts, reviews and interprets contracts, leases, purchase and sale agreements and other
transactional documents, which have potential legal implications. - Reviews, interprets, and advises on other types of legal documentation according to applicable laws
and within the context of Piedmont Healthcare guidelines. - Provides research and other legal support to business units; drafts legal summaries and other
documents related to legal issues and transactions. - Provides due diligence review and support in connection with transactional matters such as
acquisitions and financings. - Assists in the maintenance of the centralized contract management system.
- Uses outside legal resources in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
