THE COMPANY
B2Gold is a low-cost international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has three operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia, and the Philippines, a mine under construction in northern Canada and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland. B2Gold forecasts total consolidated gold production of between 860,000 and 940,000 ounces in 2024.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or similar from a reputable post-secondary program;
- Minimum five years of related professional experience in compliance and ethics, including international experience;
- Project management experience;
- Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) designation;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate professionally with both internal and external stakeholders;
- Strong attention to detail, well-organized, and able to manage time efficiently;
- Strong interpersonal skills; team player with ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels;
- Broad experience in developing, implementing, auditing, and organizing a strong compliance and ethics program;
- Knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory requirements and leading compliance practices in the mining industry;
- High degree of initiative requiring minimal supervision;
- Well-organized, have sound judgement with demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work in a timely fashion in a fast-paced work environment;
- Able to prioritize, adapt, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities while adhering to strict deadlines; and
- Proven ability to maintain discretion and/or confidentiality with strong work ethics.
JOB DEMANDS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position will be based at B2Gold Corporate Office in Vancouver, Canada with a flexible work arrangement option available. International travel to mine sites and projects (~20% of the time) will be required.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and guide current and emerging legal, regulatory, and operational risk issues related to compliance, risk, ethics and associated misconduct by employees and agents;
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive compliance program framework aligned with applicable regulatory regulations and Company policies;
- Oversee compliance with all relevant rules, regulations, standards and policies;
- Conduct regular risk assessments and provide recommendations to SVP, Legal and Corporate Communications and the executive management team regarding risks associated with scenarios that are governed by the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Policy;
- Conduct annual Compliance Assessment and prepare and present periodic reporting to the executive management team;
- Ensure compliance requirements and processes comply with legal and regulatory requirements and the Company’s governance policies and program requirements;
- Assess compliance with all laws, regulations and policies at a corporate level, as well as monitoring compliance processes at the operations level, including but not limited to ensuring all complaints and reports are appropriately assigned, investigated, and resolved in accordance with internal procedures;
- Ensure all corporate compliance and governance policies are duly implemented and communicated across the business;
- Design and implement compliance training programs for the organization and provide ongoing education on all compliance and governance policies and procedures; and
- Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.
