Job Title: Corporate Security Officer/Facility Security Officer (Part-time)
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Position Type: Part-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Schedule: Less than 30 hours per week.
Salary Range: In with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $42.00 per hour. The candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location will determine the final compensation for this role.
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado. This is not a remote position.
Additional Compensation: There is no additional compensation for this position.
Employment Benefits: This position is not eligible for employment benefits such as 401k, Medical, Dental, or Vision Insurance etc. This position is eligible for sick pay as per the Colorado Healthy Families & Workplaces Act (HFWA).
The part-time Bluestaq Corporate Security Officer/Facility Security Officer is critical in ensuring the security and safety of Bluestaq’s assets, personnel, facility, and proprietary information. This individual will serve as back-up to the full-time FSO and assist in maintaining with relevant laws, regulations, and contractual requirements, including handling classified and sensitive materials. The part-time FSO will collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain a secure and trusted environment.

Facility Security Management: Assist in managing and maintaining physical security measures, including access control systems, surveillance, and alarm systems, to protect the company’s facilities, assets, and classified information.

  • Process incoming and outgoing classified visits, including passing visits via JPAS or other customer-specific procedures.
  • Maintain Bluestaq’s access control system.
  • Provide facility security support, including alarm checks, program access controls, alarm response, and issuing badges.
  • Physical security management in the areas of access control, IDS monitoring, and response
  • Develop/maintain program Fixed Facility Checklists to establish/update classified work areas, including maintaining necessary waiver/approval records.

Classified Information Handling: Ensure proper storage, handling, and dissemination of classified and sensitive information, adhering to strict security protocols and clearance guidelines.

  • Preparation and maintenance of Prime DD254s
  • Prepare and submit Reinstatements, Crossovers, Nomination Letters, 4311s, CPRLs, JAFAN SAP Formats, RFAs and XOBs.
  • Provide necessary support to the Cybersecurity team in the implementation and maintenance of classified information systems accredited under the Management Framework (RMF)

Security Training and Awareness: Develop and conduct security training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to raise awareness and ensure with security policies and procedures.

  • Provide security indoctrinations, debriefings, and annual refresher training.
  • Develop/conduct formal initial and recurring security education and training materials/events.
  • Guide employees and subcontractors regarding matters of program security, including classification determination and marking guidance

Personnel Security: Assist in managing the security clearance process for employees, contractors, and visitors, ensuring appropriate background checks are conducted and access levels are granted based on clearance levels.

  • Maintain personnel security records for SAP/SAR/SCI-related programs, including the use of SIMS, JPAS, and Scattered Castles.
  • Perform initial access eligibility determinations and create PARs and SCI nominations.
  • Process incoming and outgoing classified visit certifications
  • Attend, support, and participate in program meetings, staff meetings, telecons
  • Respond to security questions and perform ad hoc security services as required.
  • Ensure all SF86s (word document or e-QIP) are reviewed for accuracy before submission.
  • Paperwork + processes for new employees w/o TS SCI clearances, including paperwork, calling DCSA.

Security Incident Response: Develop and implement security incident response plans, investigating and addressing security breaches, violations, or suspicious activities promptly and effectively.

  • Investigate and document security violations/incidents, providing recommendations for corrective actions to program personnel/management.

Security Audits and : Conduct periodic security audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities, gaps, and areas for improvement, ensuring with relevant security standards and regulations.

  • Conduct annual security self-reviews and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Conduct internal self-inspections and assist with Staff Assistance Visits and Customer Security Assessments
  • Interpret and implement security classification guidance.

Security Policy and Procedure Development: Collaborate with relevant departments to create, update, and implement security policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with industry best practices and government regulations.

  • Develop and maintain the program’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Review operational requirements and system specification documents to ensure applicable security requirements are addressed and incorporated into security processes.
  • Assist in the development of Program Protection Plans (PPPs)

Security Clearance Maintenance: Track and monitor security clearances, ensuring timely renewal and revalidation to maintain continuity of operations.

  • Track community badge expiration dates and ensure all badge renewal submittals are submitted promptly.

Vendor Security Evaluation: Evaluate the security posture of external vendors and partners, ensuring they meet our company’s security standards before engaging in business relationships.

Emergency Response Preparedness: Assist in developing emergency response and contingency plans, coordinating with relevant teams and authorities to ensure a swift and effective response to potential security threats or crises.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Active Clearance: All Bluestaq Corporate Security Officers/Facility Security Officers must possess an active Top (TS) clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility.
Experience: 10+ years of security management experience with a Bachelor of Science degree OR Associate degree with 2 additional years of experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in place of a degree OR a High School Diploma with 4 additional years of experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in place of a degree.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline is preferred.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of security protocols, government regulations (e.g., NISPOM, DoD Directives), and best practices for protecting classified information.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify security risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Certifications: Security-related certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Facility Security Officer (FSO) certification are advantageous.
Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to evolving security requirements and operational demands.
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
