Description:

The Cahill Group is currently recruiting a Cost Control Specialist to join our collaborative Project Controls team in St. John’s, NL. As a Cost Control Specialist, you play an integral role in monitoring cost control measures on assigned projects. Your positive collaboration style will allow you to perform as a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, and your thorough knowledge of cost control and forecasting will allow you to identify and propose improvements to company project control procedures. As a Cost Control Specialist, you possess excellent written and verbal communication skills which will allow you to build strong, professional relationships with our key clients, contractors, and project teams. This will be a permanent position, working Monday to Friday in our corporate office.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING?

  • Approximately 5 years’ experience in a construction related industry with specific experience in project management, cost control and planning.
  • A Bachelor of Engineering and/or a Business degree, or an equivalent education and experience would be considered.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Positive collaborative work style and the ability to work well within a multi-discipline team.
  • Detailed knowledge of cost control, cost forecasting and project scheduling.
  • Solid skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Accounting Software and working knowledge of project planning software (Primavera P6 or equivalent).

Responsibilities:

  • Implement approved cost control procedures for each assigned project.
  • Working with a Planner, ensure cost control coding structure is aligned with the project control schedule and client/contract requirements.
  • Ensure project dashboards and other reports are issued on time, accurate and in a consistent format to meet project deadlines.
  • Notify management if specific projects are not meeting the expected cost performance.
  • Participate in project management reviews and provide support to Project Managers as required.
  • Establish Project Control budget and objective progress measurement system.
  • Ensure accurate costing is recorded to appropriate cost code.
  • Actively manage changes to scope and cost using the ERP and Project Controls software.
  • Spearhead production of weekly and monthly reports including productivity reports, forecasts, etc. to influence project to achieve targets
  • Ensure commercial contract obligations with respect to the client and company are met.
  • Ensure invoices are in line with the contract agreement and all A/R processes for the business are properly being followed.
  • Other duties as required.
