Description:

AspenTech is a global software leader helping industries meet the increasing demand for resources from a rapidly growing population in a profitable and sustainable manner. Our Digital Grid Management software suite, including AspenTech OSI products, helps power and utilities companies achieve superior real-time control, optimization and management for exceptional performance of complex energy networks.
The Role
AspenTech is seeking an attorney to join the Legal Department as Counsel supporting the Digital Grid Management (DGM) business. You will advise on a broad range of issues including, but not limited to, commercial transactions, intellectual property, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance, and will have global responsibility for handling complex legal projects with significant financial and business impact. The position will report to the Associate General Counsel for the DGM business. You will be a key contributor to the Legal Department in a collaborative environment with colleagues around the world.

Your Impact

  • Provide comprehensive legal guidance and representation to the DGM business in commercial transactions, including tender documents, software licensing and sell-through, implementation and subcontractor services, and third-party integrations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including finance, project delivery, business development, and security to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks associated with commercial transactions and ongoing projects.
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial thought and action. Have an ownership orientation, as opposed to acting as a passive consultant or external advisor. Be directly involved in issues and on top of the details. Be the accountable subject matter expert. Stay informed about relevant legal developments, industry trends, and market conditions affecting commercial transactions.
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and creativity. Be engaged in the DGM business, be ready to solve problems and seize opportunities when and where they present, drive change, and challenge complacency.
  • Focus on hands-on practical outcomes. Be flexible and spend time on what’s important.
  • Work effectively in ambiguous situations, through shifting priorities and rapid change.

What You’ll Need

  • 5 years’ experience in sophisticated legal environment(s); software and services experience preferred.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Experience in dispute resolution.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking and written and oral communications skills.
  • Business acumen and desire to have an impact on the company.
  • Member in good standing of state bar association.
  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
  • 0-10% travel required.
