About the role – Full-time max term contract until 30 June 2026
As a Counsellor with Baptist Care SA’s Family Wellbeing Service, you will deliver a model of counselling that incorporates a holistic, systemic and trauma informed lens over a suite of approved, universal, evidence-based counselling theories. This role is based at our Salisbury office and actively delivers services throughout Adelaide.
You will provide direct support and facilitation of services to, for and on behalf of our clients which may include individual counselling, facilitating psycho-educational sessions, supporting clients and their community of care team.
Key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Deliver child-focused counselling and family therapy to children, young people, and families to support good mental health for individual and family functioning as well as supporting the family to build capacity to learn life skills in these areas.
- Implement a client centred practice approach based on the organisations best practice framework.
- Provide short term, early intervention, evidence based therapeutic support while collaborating with children and their families. Support clients in accessing and engaging with steps and touchpoints outlined in Baptist Care SA’s Client Journey.
- Delivering FWS program services through community outreach, mental health promotion and educational activities aimed at enhancing the local capacity to understand and respond to children or young people at risk or affected by mental illness.
- Play an active role in attending and documenting all supervision as required (individual, peer and group) to demonstrate accountability and improvement of practice.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

You will be required to have, or be willing to obtain:
- Full unrestricted South Australia Driver’s Licence
- DHS Child-Related Employment Screening or Working With Children check
- National Police Clearance
- Training: Safe Environments for Children and Young People (Through Their Eyes)
- Ability to work outside of normal office hours may be required
- Use of own vehicle to travel within Adelaide as required
