ABOUT THE ROLE:
Goulburn Valley Centre Against Sexual Assault (GVCASA) is one of seventeen sexual assault support services that operate throughout Victoria. Together we work to ensure that people of all genders who are Victim Survivors of sexual assault have access to comprehensive and timely support and interventions to address their needs. GVCASA provides a range of services including counselling, group work, advocacy, secondary consultation, training for other professionals and community education. GVCASA’s main office is located in Shepparton and the Centre also provides outreach services throughout the Goulburn (West Hume) Region
The Counsellor Advocate (Children and Young People) at Goulburn Valley Centre Against Sexual Assault (GVCASA) works within a trauma informed practice framework and will provide innovative therapeutic services and advocacy support for children and young people, who have been impacted by sexual assault, their non-offending family members and significant other people. The therapeutic services include a range of interventions that seek to address the impact of developmental trauma on the child’s emotional, psychological, behavioural and social functioning, and support and resource key relationships and systems around the child to support the healing process for children and young people who have been impacted by sexual assault.
