Description:
Job Overview:
The Drug and Alcohol Counselor practices in collaboration with Physicians, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Registered Nurses, and other health care professionals, within and conforms to the guidelines set by the State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners Alcohol and Drug Counselor Committee. The Drug and Alcohol Counselor shall be responsible for the provision of process groups, educational, recovery and other groups as assigned.

- Will work with the treatment team in the development and implementation of the treatment and discharge planning of all assigned patients
- Collaboration with unit director and social worker to facilitate an appropriate discharge plan
- Facilitates educational trainings to staff on the disease process of addiction
- Liaison with patient navigator to facilitate linkage to rehabilitation facilities and other community services as needed
- Provides case management & service care coordination support to social worker as needed for patients with substance/alcohol abuse & dependency
- Assist with providing education on the disease process of addiction to patients and support systems
- Facilitate specialized individual and group counseling focused on substance/alcohol abuse & dependency
- Conduct intake assessment to provide support and guidance in recovery/relapse prevention plan development
- Implements the policies and procedures of the Behavioral Health facility. Performs interventions in accordance with current policy and procedure, safety guidelines and infection control principles
- Adheres to Attendance and Reliability Standards. Gives proper notification for absence or tardiness as per policy
- Performs other duties as directed by Department Head/Supervisor
