Job Introduction
The Court Support Officer is a dynamic post that sits within the Attendance Support Team, who support schools and education settings in Telford and Wrekin to identify vulnerable children who do not attend school in the usual way or who are missing from education.
We are an experienced and supportive team who are highly regarded by the schools, settings and internal colleagues we work with. This post is in line with statutory guidance and legislation and the introduction of the National Framework for Penalty Notices. Penalty Notices are a delegated statutory responsibility for the Local Authority.
This permanent post is 37 hours per week.

The post holder will be required to carry out the duties of the Court Support Officer as set out in the Job Description, including working with a variety of school staff, parent/carers and our internal colleagues.

  • You will need to have a high level of experience in effectively using Management information Systems and Microsoft products, specifically Excel
  • You will need to work under your own initiative meeting the demands of the post
  • Ideally you will have experience of school systems
  • You will be required to collect data and analyse and prepare data reports
  • You will also need experience in recording sensitive information
  • Knowledge of school attendance related legislation is beneficial
  • You will need to be approachable and friendly and able to quickly build a rapport with school staff and parent/carers and LA colleagues both within and outside of this LA
  • An ability to think on your feet and be flexible in your approach in order to meet need is also key
  • Although you will have regular supervision from the Team Leader, you will be required to manage your own caseload and time effectively. The role will suit someone who is able to work independently and use their initiative but who can identify when they need to seek advice.
