Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Credit Analyst is responsible for assisting loan officers in the evaluation of financial history and financial health of current and existing credit applicants. The Analyst will focus on assessing creditworthiness and the degree of risk involved in extending credit for diversified types of loans. This individual will also prepare, or assists in the preparation of, loan requests for presentation to loan committees and the bank’s Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a business related field, required.
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in banking or other financial institution required.
  • Prior “on the job “experience as well as formal credit training, required.
  • Prior “on the job” Loan Review experience as well as formal Loan Review training preferred.
  • Knowledge in financial analysis programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Ability to work extended hours, as required.
  • A self-starting, team player.
  • An aptitude for math and performing calculations, cash flow analysis, and loan covenant ratios is essential.
  • Computer literacy in Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
  • Good organizational skills are necessary.
  • Attention to detail and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced, high volume, work environment with accuracy and minimal supervision.
  • Display a positive teamwork attitude with all associates.
  • Determine key priorities, clearly communicate the priorities, and ensure that resources are properly aligned.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for maintaining effective relationships with senior management, loan officers, credit administration and lending assistants.
  • Individual should be able to work in high-pressure situations and a stressful atmosphere while remaining composed.
  • Provide strong, compassionate, and visible leadership to foster positive attitudes and trust among employees, customers, and prospects.

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate financial ratios using computer programs to evaluate an applicant’s financial status.
  • Spread, analyze, and evaluate financial information to determine financial strength, adequacy of cash flow, the probability of full repayment, if collateral or a guarantor is needed to adequately secure the loan, and the degree of risk involved in extending credit.
  • Perform stress-testing scenarios for diversified types of loans to assess the degree of risk involved in extending credit when negative changes occur.
  • Consult with loan officers and customers to verify financial and credit information.
  • Participate in the structuring of loan proposals and payment plans based on the credit applicant’s financial condition, payment history, and other credit information.
  • Prepare, or assist in the preparation of, loan requests for presentation to loan committees and the bank’s Board of Directors.
  • Review financial and credit information as required by loan agreements, or as otherwise necessary, to effectively evaluate the financial condition of the borrower, and evaluate the borrower’s compliance with loan agreement requirements.
  • Perform regular loan portfolio reviews on selected credits to asses asset quality and risk rating
  • Provide additional analytical assistance to loan officers, as requested.
  • Confer with credit association and other business representatives to exchange credit analysis procedures.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and promote the bank’s Vision, Mission, Core Values, organizational structure, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in job specific training and other various training programs, as required.
  • Comply with banking regulations and all Texas Regional Bank policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
