JOB DESCRIPTION

Credit Approval Officer position within Credit Risk Management responsible for credit approval activities of assigned regional and specialty portfolios within Commercial Banking. The Credit Approval Officer will review and approve credit facilities in excess of business line authority levels, advising the business line on credit structure, underwriting, risk identification, and portfolio management activities. The Credit Approval Officer develops guidance policies and monitors delinquency, loss, and risk rating accuracy across assigned portfolios and reviews loan underwriting and portfolio management performance for senior management/regulatory agency review.
The Credit Approval Officer collaborates with business line leaders toward accomplishing business goals, while ensuring compliance with related policies and procedures. The position will work closely with business line and Credit Risk Management partners to identify and implement improvements to credit process efficiency objectives of the bank.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically more than 15 years of applicable experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Considerable understanding of applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends that impact their assigned line of business
  • Considerable understanding of the business line’s operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls
  • Thorough knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies
  • Strong leadership and management skills of processes, projects and people
  • Effective skills at managing stressful situations
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
  • Applicable professional certifications

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there’s an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
