  • Good understanding of corporate structures, reading and interpretation of financial statements, credit agency ratings and guidelines
  • Advanced level IT skills, familiar with credit risk modelling techniques and best practice
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Degree level education and/or relevant professional qualification
  • Network of professional relationships within the financial, legal and corporate communities and up to date knowledge of trends in the credit markets

Responsibilities:

This is a great opportunity to join the Commercial Team, accountable for the management of credit risk for Shell Energy UK.
Reporting directly into the Commercial Director, the role requires a self-motivated, dedicated and responsible individual with the ability to perform well under pressure.
The role supports our business’ growth ambition in the B2B space measured against the metrics set out in our 10-year strategic plan.
You will get the opportunity to apply your expertise in credit risk and deliver credit risk management improvements that will have tangible benefits for our business customers.

More specific responsibilities include:

  • Critical challenge and detailed review of credit submissions from front office teams, providing credit recommendations to approvers
  • Articulate Shell Energy’s credit risk perception and appetite for deals in line with credit policy and procedures, manage the interaction and communication with front office teams
  • Attend Industrial & Commercial (I&C) customer meetings, and work with credit partners to ensure the best available information and solutions are considered to inform the credit recommendation
  • Own and maintain Shell Energy UK credit policy & procedures aligned with the Shell group credit policy and financial guidelines
  • Manage external credit assessment and trade credit insurance partners. Organise new partnerships as required
  • Ensure all front office teams are carrying out their duties regarding SLAs/good practice related to credit assessments, credit premiums and trade credit insurance processes
  • Monitor and flag downgraded and potential company failures to senior management – support front office teams to navigate in line with customer contractual terms
  • Provide credit risk insights to inform credit policy and wider strategy, draw on expertise and professional knowledge to propose innovative solutions / improvements to status quo
