QUALIFICATIONS:

1 A minimum of a 2-year diploma or degree in Office Administration, Business or Event Planning.
2 A minimum of 3 years of work experience in an educational environment and/or a demonstrated working knowledge of the function and goals of the Registrar’s Office, specifically as it relates to credit transfer and pathways environment.
3. Experience working independently, in a team environment, organizing, prioritizing and problem-solving own work and dealing with sensitive and confidential information referring to related policies and FIPPA.
4. The incumbent should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills and good judgement, and the ability to organize and analyze data to identify anomalies, trends and patterns.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to develop proficiency within the student information system and CRM (Salesforce). Ability to work in a highly automated environment.
6. The incumbent must also have superior writing ability and experience using word processing, data base and spreadsheet application and using email and internet.
7. Experience handling multiple tasks and timelines from a variety of sources to meet deadlines is critical. Practical work experience working in a customer service environment with a variety of clients from varying social, academic, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
8. Familiarity with ONCAT and transfer policies.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager, Credit Transfer, Pathways and PLAR, the Credit Transfer and Pathways Assistant supports the achievement of the institution’s recruitment and enrolment plan as defined by Durham College’s SEM framework by supporting credit transfer and pathway initiatives. This position supports a culture of student mobility at Durham College by advising students about the options and processes which recognize previous learning through credit transfer and serves to help facilitate further education through degree completion pathways.
The Credit Transfer and Pathways Assistant is responsible for supporting the Credit Transfer Officer in facilitating the transfer credit process which recognizes a student’s prior academic learning and credentials. The incumbent provides information about how to access available transfer credit resources and supports the development and maintenance of those resources, in line with ONCAT directives, initiatives and projects.
The incumbent will support Durham College pathways initiatives by providing superior customer service to prospective and current students, facilitating the operational needs of the pathways process and assisting with pathways-specific reporting needs and events. The incumbent is expected to be a subject matter expert for all processes and policies related to credit transfer and pathways, and collaborate with the Credit Transfer Officer and Manager, Credit Transfer, Pathways and PLAR to resolve complex or non-routine issues. The incumbent is obliged to adjudicate credit transfer applications and assist in the maintenance of student records related to credit transfer, and pathways in a consistent and equitable manner.
The incumbent provides support to the admissions team and frontline to best serve students and plays a critical role at recruitment and conversion events by ensuring the dissemination of information and guidance to support potential credit transfer, and pathways students.
