Description:

SCIENTIST – CRYO-ELECTRON MICROSCOPY

We are looking for an experienced cryo-electron microscopy scientist to join the growing Structural Biology group
based in Munich, Germany. In close collaboration with the various departments at Crelux you will work on structural
biology projects covering a wide variety of target classes (in particular membrane proteins and large complexes).
Your main responsibilities will include the planning of structural biology projects, cryo-EM sample preparation, cryo-
EM data collection and processing, and the communication of results to our clients.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related subject
  • Experience in the design and evaluation of samples for cryo-EM
  • Experience of cryo-EM grid preparation (in particular with a Vitrobot IV)
  • Collection of cryo-EM data on Thermo Fisher Glacios and Krios microscopes with EPU
  • Experience in cryo-EM data processing with commonly used software packages (RELION, CTFFIND,

MOTIONCOR, ChimeraX) running on Linux

  • Experience with scripting (Bash and Python), databases (SQL/MariaDB) and/or administration of Linux

systems would be an advantage

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work and communicate efficiently in interdisciplinary teams
  • Fluent spoken and written English and (ideally) German
  • Experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous – membrane proteins

Responsibilities:

  • Research of scientific literature relevant to the project
  • Careful documentation and evaluation of scientific protocols and results
  • Close communication with the various scientific and administrative departments
  • Professional communication and discussion of results with our clients
  • The ability to plan work in order to meet planned timelines
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of scientific advances in structural biology
