POSITION SUMMARY:
Trane Technologies is hiring a Business Development Executive to play a key role in the development of new sales opportunities and the growth of our Energy Services Comprehensive Solutions business in Canada. The successful individual truly understands today’s macro trends associated the global climate change challenge, energy efficiency/decarbonization initiatives and is able to articulate comprehensive business solutions that will help our clients upgrade their aging building infrastructure resulting in facilities that are healthier, more energy efficient and better performing for the occupants they serve.
The Business Development (BD) Executive is responsible for providing strategic market expertise to drive accelerated growth and increased market share of the Comprehensive Solutions business. Broadly, the BD Executive will work closely with the Comprehensive Solutions General Manager in Canada to develop new sales opportunities and business initiatives as well as support the sales team to drive growth and business performance excellence. The position will also focus on the development of strategic partners & offering innovation as well as also work closely with the marketing team and decarbonization teams in the development of analysis and growth initiatives for the business.
The BD Executive will be responsible for developing new opportunities and introducing Trane’s business solutions to target markets. This individual will have extensive knowledge of our offering, the markets, and specifically, the business drivers and issues facing these organizations in Canada. This strategic role will also partner closely internally with our Area General Managers, their Sales Managers and Account Management teams to support driving new business and opportunities for the Comprehensive Solutions team which will support the growth objectives for the overall Canadian Region. This individual will be responsible for identifying and executing strategic growth initiatives that position our team to exceed our sales objectives and lead business development initiatives to support future growth plans.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related discipline is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years in a similar business development environment preferably in the energy savings area. Demonstrated significant experience in the Energy Savings/Performance Contracting space is preferred.
- Experience in promoting financial and complex solutions.
- First-hand experience and strong working knowledge in two or more of the following vertical markets: K-12, Post-Secondary Education, Healthcare Municipal Government.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft software including MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong communications and presentation skills in a large group and industry conference setting.
- Exposure to Salesforce.Com and strategic selling applications.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations.

Responsibilities:
- Provide market expertise to drive the growth and increased market share of the Comprehensive Solutions business unit.
- Consult and partner with local AGMs and their teams to uncover new strategic Comprehensive Solutions business opportunities from the existing account base.
- Lead the deployment of overall strategic growth initiatives including but not limited to cross-selling and teaming across our businesses, identification of new target markets and strategies for entry & expansion, identification of grant funding opportunities, driving business through new financing models, etc.
- Target and initiate contact with customers and develop the opportunity for further qualification, working closely with Comprehensive Solutions Account Executives as well as local Account Managers, utilizing tools like Altify and other established sales enablement tools and processes.
- Educate the local sales team on the opportunity, introduce them to the sponsor and play a role with regards to further development of the account and sales opportunity.
- Evaluate, plan and participate in selected regional and national conferences with the goal of meeting new customers, setting appointments, and furthering Trane’s industry presence and brand.
- Develop thorough knowledge of business drivers impacting the selected markets. Understand provincial and local government programs and how that impacts our value proposition and go-to-market plan.
- Determine where to bring value to the team and pursuit by attending customer meetings, strategy sessions, and assisting in providing resources for opportunity development.
- Provide market intelligence and report on business activities as required to keep the organization informed.
- In conjunction with the business General Manager, contribute to the development of annual plans, strategic initiatives, individual sales targets, etc.
