The Perioperative Unit, situated at the Sale Campus, consists of two Operating Rooms, one Endoscopy room, a Day Procedure Unit, and the Central Sterilising Supply Department. It hosts a range of surgical procedures including General Surgery and various specialties like Orthopaedics, Urology, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Gynaecology, and Obstetrics, all conducted at CGHS.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Clean, sterilise, inspect and package surgical instruments
  • Provide timely sterile products, trays and equipment where applicable
  • Ensure all sterilising standards and infection control measures are adhered to
  • Support the perioperative manager and other team members in managing resources
  • Manage documentation
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and excellence across all areas of the hospital
  • You will ensure consistency and maintaining the highest of operational standards of the sterilisation department

To succeed in the role, you will need a minimum Certificate III or IV in Sterilising Services

  • Prior experience working in a sterilising unit, minimum one year
  • Knowledge of AS 5369:2023 (previously AS4187) standards and infection control guidelines is essential
  • Proven experience in ophthalmology, dental, plastics, orthopaedics and general surgery instrumentation
  • Knowledge of sterilisation procedures and practices
  • Demonstrated passion for patients and healthcar
