Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 CT radiographer to join our professional friendly CT team within Walsall Healthcare Trust. We are looking for CT radiographers to join our band 6 Rota providing specialist cover 7/7.
The successful candidate will participate in the day to day running of a CT scanner within the imaging department supervising junior staff and providing a high quality radiographic service, under the guidance of the professional Lead and band 7 Clinical Lead in CT.
We operate a 7-day working week which includes rostering at weekends as your normal days with days off in the week.
To perform appraisals for junior staff, as directed, in a timely manner, setting objectives and personal development plans
To take day to day responsibility for the smooth running of a clinical area, escalating any issues to the professional modality lead or Professional Lead as required
To be responsible for maintaining professional and technical standards relevant Radiography
To establish and maintain effective communication with all members of the imaging team, both senior and junior.
To challenge, in a positive manner, poor working practices seeking support from senior colleagues to promote a culture of continuous improvement and development
To participate with the recruitment and selection of staff as directed, under the Supervision of senior staff.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the largest employers in the local area with over 3,000 staff. We have a friendly and vibrant Imaging department and we have new and exciting opportunities coming up. We have recently installed a new state of the art CT scanner to replace the one in the main department and will be starting a project to install a new state of the art scanner for our outpatients department. The imaging department is also part of the new Accident and emergency development where a new CT scanner will be installed.

To be accountable for own professional activities using a high degree of autonomy within the limitations of personal expertise and agreed knowledge and skills framework
Supervise and undertake assessments of assistant practitioners and students.
To organise departmental workload in specified areas.
To prioritise patients independently and to organise workload from a wide variety of referral pathways.
To maintain and develop clinical skills in all specialist areas. Maintain fitness to practice with Professional Code of Conduct and through CPD
To deal with a range of operational pressures and developments day to day basis seeking advice and support from the modality lead or Superintendent Radiographer as appropriate
To deputise for modality lead as required
To independently assess and justify examinations under the IR(ME)R 2000 regulations using department protocols when necessary.
Ensure the implementation of examination protocols
To maintain a flexible approach to working hours such as on call, extended days and weekend working
Acts as a role model to junior staff
To hold a Society of Radiographer approved qualification in intravenous cannulation and undertake intravenous cannulation in line with competency and injection of medicines in accordance with agreed scope of practice and Trust Protocol
To be responsible for the monitoring of patients post administration for adverse events
